Laura & Gerry’s Intimate Wedding at Volunteer Park Conservatory + Brimmer and Heeltap
A Dreamy Micro Wedding in the Heart of Seattle
When I think back to Laura and Gerry’s wedding day, the first word that comes to mind is intentional. From the quiet moments of getting ready at home to their laughter-filled evening with family and friends, every part of their day reflected deep connection and heartfelt joy.
Getting Ready at Home in Seattle
Their day started in the calm comfort of their home with their pups. While they got ready, I explored the neighborhood and found a quiet, tree-lined corner—the perfect spot for their first look. That private moment, filled with emotion and anticipation, set the tone for the rest of the day.
A Greenhouse Wedding at Volunteer Park Conservatory
Their ceremony at Volunteer Park Conservatory was everything you’d want in a micro wedding—simple, elegant, and surrounded by 20 of their closest loved ones. With sunlight filtering through the gardens and the lush plants all around, the setting felt magical.
After the ceremony, we took family portraits in the park. The joy was real, the laughter was contagious, and everyone was so present—it made capturing those moments a complete dream.
Then we stepped inside the greenhouse for portraits, and WOW. The tropical foliage, glowing light, and greenhouse warmth (hello, late July, the groom was hot!) made for the most romantic and playful photos of just the two of them.
Reception at Brimmer and Heeltap
The celebration continued at Brimmer and Heeltap, where they rented the beautiful back area—half inside, half outside—with a private porch, fire pit, and cozy seating. The ambiance was relaxed and welcoming, like the best kind of backyard dinner party, but with elevated food and style.
The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere buzzed with conversation and clinking glasses. The guests clearly had so much fun—everyone lingered, laughed, and soaked in the evening.
Why I Love Micro Weddings
Micro weddings hold a special place in my heart — and honestly, they might be my favorite thing to photograph. There's something that happens when you strip away the noise and just focus on us. The glances across the room. The way your person laughs when they're nervous. The quiet moments between the big ones. When the guest list is small, everything gets bigger — the emotion, the meaning, the love in the room. That's what I get to capture. And I wouldn't trade it for anything. Are you ready to plan yours?
